On August 29, 2005, a Category 5 hurricane named Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast areas of Louisiana and Mississippi. One of the areas hit hardest was the city of New Orleans and its people. This limited cachet was specifically designed for the Syracuse Stamp Club for the sole purpose of raising relief funds for the Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans. All proceeds from this sale will go directly to the relief effort. This cachet and cancellation were designed by Vincent Juchimek, a club member. This issue will be hand colored and limited to 25 covers and franked with 32¢ singles from the 1995 Jazz Musicians issue (#2982-2992) and the 5¢ Flag Over White House issue of 1963 (#1208).
