David H. Proulx, 1937-2007

 

    Postal history and postmark collector David H. Proulx of Baldwinsville, N.Y., died Nov. 6 at age 70. He was born March 20, 1937, in Plattsburg, N.Y.

    Mr Proulx was the curator of the Margie Pfund Memorial Post Mark Museum and Research Library, located near Bellevue, Ohio.  He was also an active member of the Syracuse Stamp Club in New York.

    Mr. Proulx spent considerable time researching postal history and focused on specific areas of New York state's postal history.  He exhibited and wrote several related articles.

    One exhibit that he showed at the Syracuse stamp show in 2005 featured stampless covers of Onondaga County in New York.

    Two of his books are the Star Cancels of New York State and County and Postmaster Cancels of New York State, published in 1987 and 1990, respectively.

    Mr. Proulx also wrote articles for the Post Mark Collectors Club's publication the Bulletin.

    He was recently asked to serve as a consultant on postal history for the National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C.
